FAQ
FAQ:
How much do you charge?
Nothing! That's right, for most jobs we don't charge anything at all; One Little Spark is a passion project that allows us to give back to our community. We do this because we like the work, we like working together, and we believe anyone who can help, should. So if you're in dire straits but can't afford to pay, please contact us anyway. In most cases we even cover any material costs. The only exceptions are for big ticket items like dumpster rentals; in those cases we may ask you to help cover costs, but we will always discuss that with you first.
For those who can afford to pay: we gladly take donations to help pay for all the free work and materials we provide.
Hang on, how can you do so much work for free?
We have had successful careers and are fortunate enough to not need much income to survive right now. We've always enjoyed helping others as a side-hobby, and it brings us a huge amount of joy to finally be able to do so full-time. Any donations or payments we receive now goes right back into the business, paying for the materials and expenses of other folks in need.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No, you don't have to be there! In fact we want you to go take a much-needed break while we do the hard stuff. The obvious
exception is for purging during clean outs,
but we can pre-sort and walk you through short sessions to make purging as painless as possible.
We work later hours - averaging from noon to 8pm - so you can
spend an hour or two with us after your own work day to purge, if necessary, and also check on our progress and give us any feedback.
Do you work with hoarders?
We are not equipped to work with anyone with a
diagnosed hoarding disorder, but we can and have worked for people with
mild to moderate hoarding behaviors, provided they are willing to purge most of their hoard. If you're not sure what the difference is
between a hoarding disorder and hoarding behaviors, here are a few
deal-breakers on our end:
We Do NOT Work With:
- bio-hazards: animal hoarding, fecal matter, vermin, untreated bug infestations, etc.
- safety hazards: impassable walkways in most areas of the home, dangerous materials like drug paraphenalia, black mold, etc.
- a hostile home resident, or one unwilling to purge most of their hoard
If
any of these are present, then we're very sorry, but we cannot work
for you.
